Ethics Continuing Education More Relevant Than Ever

Ethics continuing education seems all the more necessary in today’s world, what with the continuing saga of the Rupert Murdoch/News of the World tabloid scandal. One of the most monied of patriarchs worldwide, Murdoch makes billions from a diverse portfolio of properties and investments, one of which is the legendary News of the World tabloid. A long-time money-maker for him, this property has now become his greatest challenge yet, both personally as well as professionally.

And so how does all that relate to the topic of ethics continuing education? Simply that some common decency would have helped prevent the scandal in the first place. It all started with a missing girl. As interest in her case grew, the tabloid sought to distinguish itself in the media scrum by gaining special insight into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. What Murdoch’s News of the World did was hack into the girl’s mobile voicemail account.

The reason why this could have been prevented with ethics continuing education is on account of the destruction of evidence they engaged in by deleting voicemail messages to make room for new ones to listen in on! This created the impression to investigators that the girl was still alive, checking in and deleting old messages. Unfortunately, the girl had been long dead, and even more unfortunately for the News of the World, their hacking was soon found out.

Not even the royals and their prime minister were immune from Murdoch’s prying henchmen (and women)!

And now the paper’s been shut down by Murdoch in an apparent effort to appease an outraged public and even more outraged lawmakers, who have compelled him to testify before Parliament. Moreover, the tycoon has had the Sky Network acquisition fall through on account of intense concern over his control of the media!

Microsoft Exchange Alternative How To Search It

One good idea for your company would be looking into a Microsoft Exchange alternative. A better bottom line is yours upon a successful migration. Staying connected is of paramount importance for your company. Needless to say, you should exercise all due diligence as an informed consumer and perform proper research into your needs and all options available.

But just what are those requirements, you may well wonder. Well, that’s where we now turn to a more thorough consideration of the most popular of essential elements. We will talk about connection, keep tabs on your contacts and much more.

You need to be connected all the time with Entourage, iCal or Outlook. Such applications synchronize nicely with other computer programs you have running so as to serve your customers better. Even Microsoft’s own e-mail program is a good start for many needs, and they probably can’t be beat when it comes to integration with Windows, for obvious reasons. A Microsoft Exchange alternative can still be more advantageous, however, not for the least of which reasons are the typically much lower prices.

These computer programs will not cost you a fortune and offer you plenty of options to keep you connected and synced. Sure saves on overhead this way, if nothing else. In the 21st Century, to effectively manage your company means staying connected with your customers, your supply chain, with everyone around you. This is where a Microsoft Exchange alternative will solve your problems. Your employees will not have to patch together a lot of applications to get the results you need. Getting on the right path is how you will make technology work for you and not the other way around. Anti-spam and anti-virus protection is a must in these types of computer programs.

So there you have it: some reasons for how goining outside Redmond’s offerings should save both time and money over the long run. Thinking and then going outside the proverbial box is becoming ever more popular these days; don’t let your company fall behind.

Kerio Hosted Email for Work and Play

In regards to Kerio hosted email, nothing on the market offers the same flexibility. E-mail is now a main method of communication, so there needs to be a robust solution that’s reliable and convenient, one that’s good for both personal use and business applications. Of course, it’s all right to use a free service such as Yahoo! or Google for your e-mail needs, but then you’re subjected to advertising – among other disadvantages.

There is a need then for Kerio hosted email which features everything necessary for industrial-strength e-mailing. There are numerous email hosts out there and if you are not careful, you may end up paying for more than what you need or paying less for services that are incomplete. But any shortlist will always include the venerable name of Kerio. There’s a good reason for that: no other option allows for the kind of awesome possibilities and cost savings all in one package.

Kerio hosted email is nothing short of amazing, which is why it’s become ever more popular with each passing week. There’s just so much that could be said, from easy synchronization to beefy security to handy backups. Of course, both offer the regular online calendars and address books plus the beauty of having your own domain name and the company to help you when your email account encounters problems.

In the end, you also have to consider the proverbial bottom line: expense. Microsoft is going to be expensive, period – yet what they offer is often called bloatware for the mass of unnecessary features, so-called, not to mention the resource-inefficient computer code involved. In the final analysis, it doesn’t matter, all these technical specs; what matters is what your own needs are, and how some software may meet them better than another.

Set Up a Proxy Server for Fun and Profit

Finding how to set up a proxy server has to be done if you don’t want to be held back by limitations. In simple terms, proxy usually means acting as a substitute or an agent. When it comes to the internet, this means using a program that acts like another or otherwise substitutes for it. In computing a proxy server is simply an informational middleman, if you will; it handles exchanges between the requester and the ultimate server. A client connects to the proxy server and requests some service, like web page or access to a file. What the proxy does is screen all requests against its set of filters, rules by which it can deny requests. Perhaps the most common such rule is banning access by clients on certain IP addresses.

To properly set up a proxy server, you should research all available options carefully. You might start by checking out one of the most popular proxys on the market, a piece of software called WinProxy. The main reason for its popularity is that no software needs to be installed on the client systems. Another reason is NAT, or Network Address Translation, since WinProxy is what’s known as a transparent proxy. This is important, since proxys are usually used for purposes of anonymity. WinProxy acts just like any other server, dealing with security issues and all the various protocols online – except when it needs to serve as a substitute, a proxy.

Configuration is not hard at all with WinProxy. It’s a great option when you want to set up a proxy server. Before you begin setting up WinProxy, install the TCP/IP protocol on all systems connected to the network. Then, install WinProxy on the system, which you want to act as the proxy server. The software can be bought from stores and also downloaded. When you begin the installation, you get the option to run the Install Wizard. The first screen that appears is the product registration screen, which requires the user to enter the product key. The next two screens gathers information about the type of Internet connection that will be used- dial-up or broadband. Sometimes you’ll have to tell the program yourself. The next step will depend entirely on you, as it involves user access information like ID and password. Most other things, you can let WinPoxy deal with. Now perhaps the best thing of all is how it will make an internal LAN address into an anonymous IP address. The IP address that the Internet Service Provider has assigned to the modem or router becomes the external address. It is this external address that will be shown to those outside your network, providing the anonymity you need. By now you would be practically at the end of setup, ready to take on the worldwide web anonymously through your proxy server, courtesy WinProxy.
